Sport Overview
The university is home to Hertfordshire Sports Village, a state-of-the-art facility featuring a gym, swimming pool, new generation turf fields, courts, and a private strength & conditioning suite. Competitive athletes benefit from high-performance programmes, expert coaching, and athlete-focused support services including physiotherapy, bespoke strength and conditioning coaching and support workshops in key multidisciplinary areas.
The university supports talented student-athletes through scholarships and a dedicated dual-career pathway, enabling them to excel in both sport and study. Five elite Performance Sport programmes - American Football, Men’s Basketball, Men’s Futsal, Women’s Netball, and Women’s Soccer - compete at the top level in BUCS, achieving regular national success. In addition, over 30 competitive sports clubs, weekly BUCS fixtures, and a thriving campus sport programme offer all students the opportunity to get involved, stay active, and make the most of their university experience through sport.
