Australia's university programmes sit within an exceptionally strong national club system, and several universities are co-located with high performance centres.
Standard of play
BUCS championship finals feature international swimmers, and winning times in several events are competitive with NCAA conference standards. Depth across the field is thinner than in the NCAA.
Where you'll actually train
Unlike an NCAA programme, your primary squad may be a performance club rather than the university. Establish before committing which pool you will swim in, who writes your programme, and how many sessions are on the university's schedule.
